A.A. and Al-Anon
All meetings are one hour unless specified differently on the schedule.
You do NOT have to be a member of 24th Street to attend A.A. or Al-Anon meetings
Meeting codes are used in meeting lists and schedules to help identify the format of individual meetings.
The ‘O‘ or ‘C‘ codes designate who may attend a meeting. This is a matter of individual group conscience. These codes may be joined with others to provide a better understanding of the meeting’s format. These are general descriptions of the various meetings; the conduct of individual meetings is mandated by individual group conscience.
Open Meetings (O) – Everyone is welcome. The group has voted to allow anyone interested in learning about A.A. to attend the meeting, although usually only Alcoholics speak.
Closed Meetings (C) – The group has voted attendance is limited to alcoholics only. Attendance at closed A.A. meetings is limited to people with a desire to stop drinking.
To confirm a meeting format, check in with the meeting chair five minutes before the meeting’s start time.
